How to write really badly ISBN: 9781405200615
Dupasquier, Philippe and Fine, Anne
Published by Egmont, 2002
Chester Howard has been to lots of schools all over the world. He is bright, pushy and funnily sarcastic. Walbottle Manor (Mixed) is clearly a different sort of school. Everyone is so nice, so kind, and then there is Chester's desk mate, Joe. Joe is severely dyslexic in every subject. Nice Miss Tate tries her best, but Joe does not learn much. It is Chester who comes up with some solutions for Joe and who discovers his alternative talent for making models. Cheerful Joe helps the rather bleak Chester become a happier boy, who then wins the 'most helpful person in the class' medal. Snappy, funny and moving too. A short novel with excellent black and white illustrations.
