Mr. Wallace is Sam's toy rabbit, and he and Sam are inseparable. Sam is a rather insecure little boy, but as he can pretend that it is Mr. Wallace who is fearful, he doesn't have to admit the problem. His patient parents understand very well, and in the six short stories they help Mr. Wallace (and Sam) cope with his fears about moving house, making new friends, climbing into his new tree house, being afraid of the model dinosaurs in an exhibit, and starting a new school.
