Molly and her dad ISBN: 9781921272554
Ormerod, Jan and Thompson, Carol
Published by Little Hare Books, 2008
Molly lives with her mum, and her dad lives so far away that she never sees him. She is told she is very like him, but she doesn't know. At school she makes up stories about him, particularly when other dads visit school and she sees all the things they can do. Then he writes that he will come to look after her for a week while mum is away. The dad who arrives is quite different to Molly's imaginings - colourful, loud and full of life. She isn't sure she likes him and can't think what to call him - dad, father, Joe? Things go from bad to worse until he goes to school with her and tells the most wonderful stories to her classmates. Everyone is thrilled, particularly Molly, and she learns that he is a dad to be proud of. They become the best of friends. The illustrations are a perfect match for dad - bright and loud and huge fun.
