This one is a cautionary tale for parents! Mum really wants Daisy to eat her peas, but Daisy is adamant that she doesn't like them. Mum tries to bribe her, and with growing agitation, promises Daisy everything she can think of. 'I don't like peas,' said Daisy.' Then Daisy turns the tables: 'I'll eat my peas if you eat your Brussels.' Mum does not like sprouts, so they both ditch the vegetables and eat their pudding! Not terribly useful for picky eaters, but Sharratt's wonderful illustrations, and the fact that children will hugely enjoy counting the pictures of mum's escalating promises make this a winner. It does acknowledge the fact that parents as well as children can have their likes and dislikes.
