Grandad's ashes ISBN: 9781843105176
Smith, Walter
Published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2007
'When Grandad died, 83 people went to the funeral. A lot of them cried.' So begins this story about four children and how they helped scatter their grandad's ashes. Grandma explains that Grandad always wanted his ashes scattered in his 'favourite place', and Jessica, Colin, Sasha and Tom set out to find his special place. They come up with several solutions, but none of them works out, and jit is only when they go up in a balloon that the ashes get scattered over all Grandad's favourite places. The pictures are in a lovely soft crayon-tyupe medium, and the overall effect is of warmth and lo9ve between grandparents and grandchildren. Beautifully done, with no sentimentality. Available from Amazon, from bookshops, or from the publisher at www.jkp.com.
