The intensely moving story of a terrible car crash which results in the severe injury of mum, dad and both daughters. Told in diary form by the nine year old Rosemyn, the book tells of her deepest feelings, her reactions and her knowledge that her mum is going to die. Phoebe, her younger sister has a brain contusion, which makes her say and do peculiar things, and dad has a broken leg and ribs. Rose herself has a badly broken arm which must be kept in traction. When the machines keeping mum alive are finally turned off, dad is able to be with Rose and Phoebe, and with the help of many good friends and relatives, the family begins to come to terms with their loss. There is excellent detail about all of their feelings, and we know they believe that mum is in heaven, free from pain. The book is long-ish (125 pages) and harrowing, but very honest and completely believable. Use with care.
