Flabby Cat and Slobby Dog, as you might suspect, do nothing but eat and sleep, and when the sofa gets uncomfortable, they decide it has shrunk - or the cushions are growing bigger. It is comforting to keep eating and sleeping and watching the telly, but when the whole house has seemed to shrink, they decide to go find their relatives, cunning tiger and wild wolf, and live with them. This entails a very considerable journey, and as they walk and sail over mountains and seas and must find their own food, we see them getting thinner and fitter, until - when they arrive home having never found their elusive relatives - they don't recognise themselves. A super parable of the importance of getting out and doing interesting things, and the wonderfully adroit illustrations are funny and pointed at the same time. Smashing stuff.
