Tommy's new sister ISBN: 9780735810563

Published by North-South, 1999
Tommy is perfectly happy at home with mum and dad and dog Muffin - until baby Wendy arrives. He really doesn't like her. First he sprinkles 'fairy dust' on her (flour, sugar and cinnamon) to send her off to Neverland like Wendy in 'Peter Pan'. Then he tries to post her to grandma. But when she cries for a long time, Tommy is indignant that no one comes, and he provides the comfort she needs. Tommy is an older child - 5 or 6 - and this disruption to his happy life comes at a time when he is old enough and imaginative enough to try to do something about it. The first-class illustrations show what Tommy is actually doing and what he is thinking about doing, and the dog Muffin provides lots of reassurance.
